Loving all people as image bearers of God.
Restoring authentic relationships.
Giving our time, talent and resources to serve God.
Honoring Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
We believe there is only one true God, who eternally exists as a Trinity of equally divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity thinks, acts, feels, speaks, and relates because each is a person and not an impersonal force. Each member of the Trinity is equally God, sharing all the divine attributes. Because love and community flow from the Trinity to us through the Holy Spirit, we seek to live in loving community with God and others.
We believe that God models unity in diversity in the community of the Trinity. This is the foundational principle about why we believe the Church should also embody unity in diversity.
We believe in God the Father who is the almighty maker of heaven and earth. The Son and the Spirit eternally proceed from the Father.
THE SON, JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. We believe he was physically raised from the dead, physically ascended into heaven, and now acts as the only mediator between God and people.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit, as the third person of the Trinity, is to apply the saving work of Christ. He does this by bringing conviction of a person’s need for the forgiveness of Christ. He regenerates their heart and then permanently indwells them when they believe. His ongoing work is to guide, instruct, convict, comfort, and empower the believer for godly living and service.
HOLY SCRIPTURES: THE BIBLE
We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are given by God’s inspiration and are worthy of utmost reverence. Because we revere Scripture, we intend to read and interpret the texts as God intends us to interpret them.
We believe the Scriptures are authoritative regarding commands, inerrant regarding propositions, and infallible because Scripture accomplishes what God intends it to accomplish. The Bible is completely trustworthy.
We believe the Scriptures were written by God through people and therefore speak with the authority of God while reflecting the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. They are the unique and final authority on all matters of Christian faith and practice.
We believe that people were created in the image of God for a loving relationship with God. Therefore, all people have intrinsic value including unborn children, disabled persons, and the poor and marginalized.
We believe that all people have rebelled against God, actively or passively choosing to go their own independent way. As a result, we’re separated from God and suffer the corruption of our nature because of our sin. The effects of this fall from our intended relationship with God can only be reversed through faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins.
We believe that Jesus Christ died in our place to restore our relationship with God and pay the penalty for our sin. Before the work of the Holy Spirit, we are sick and rebellious, and in fact, we are dead in our sins. The saving work of Jesus is necessary for us to have a restored relationship with God. There is nothing that we can do to earn salvation from God; instead, the Holy Spirit works in us so we can respond to God’s salvation. We believe God desires that all people have a restored and saving relationship with him.
We believe that there is only one true Church universally composed of all people who have asked Jesus Christ for forgiveness and made Him leader of their lives. The diversity of all believers working together, using their gifts to build one another up, form the parts of the body of Christ, the Church.
We believe that the Kingdom of God is not segregated along ethnic and economic lines. Therefore, we believe that the Church on earth should not be either.
We believe that the trajectory of the Kingdom of God is one in which every tribe, nation, and tongue worship God in unity. Therefore, our ethnicity does not go away in the New Heaven and New Earth. Jesus is still Jewish, and we will carry our ethnicity into eternity just like he did.
We believe that since humans are created in the image of God, we are all eternal. All humans will exist somewhere forever. God allows all humans the freedom to either follow Jesus or reject Jesus. Those who believe, love, and obey Jesus, by the Spirit’s power, will live with God and all of Jesus’ followers in the New Heaven and New Earth. Those who reject Jesus and the salvation that he gives will be granted their desire to be free of Jesus and his presence. God will not force himself on anyone but respects the free will that he gave all humans.
